Safeguarding Policy

At The Church at the Barn, Rock Ferry, we are committed to safeguarding children and adults with care and support needs, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well‑being.

Our Commitment

  • Prevent harm or abuse in all its forms.

  • Respect the dignity and rights of every individual.

  • Ensure everyone can access and enjoy all aspects of church life.

  • Exercise proper care in appointing those who work with children and adults.

  • Value, protect, and empower every child and adult to speak up if they are experiencing harm.

We Pledge To

  • Follow statutory, denominational, and specialist safeguarding guidelines.

  • Implement relevant legislation, including:

    • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018

    • Disability Discrimination Acts 1995 & 2005

    • Equality Act 2010

    • Care Act 2014

  • Support, resource, and train those undertaking safeguarding work.

  • Stay up to date with national and local safeguarding developments.

  • Ensure all workers agree to abide by these guidelines.

  • Support anyone in our community affected by abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Children’s Social Services: Lead responsibility for investigating concerns about children.

  • Adult Social Care: Lead responsibility for investigating concerns about adults with care and support needs.

  • Police: Must be contacted urgently if a criminal offence may have been committed.

  • Everyone: Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Our safeguarding policy is reviewed annually by the Trustees.
